Lithos Lighting
lightingLithos provides the base of the geological term ‘Lithosphere’ - the most immediate outer crust of our earth. As the pieces take majority of their form in sandstone, they are very much an abstracted yet raw form of our own lithosphere.
The Lithos lighting was again featured for Melbourne Design Week as part of HARD following a succuessful debut in Melbourne Design Week 2022 garnering a feature from Stephen Todd in The Australian Financial Review.
This year, working alongside a talented team of electricians and lighting producers, I was able to synthesise a confident construction of two lamps. With retrofit electrical and lighting components, these lamps stood strong, solid and secure within the gallery space at Christopher Boots in Fitzroy, Melbourne.
Lithos Candelabra. Sandstone, steel, bees wax candle.
Lamps are constructed using Barrabool sandstone sourced from a demolished period home, as well as steel reinforcement rods, sourced from discards of a local construction site.
